miscommunication by *za-zen:iconza-zen:

You wooed me with your cocky grin, the way you said my name,
You hooked me first then reeled me in, assuming I was tame.
We laughed, we talked, we kissed, we loved, I thought that it was fun,
But then you bit and claimed to own- I knew that we were done.
You should have been a one night stand, not a relationship,
I learned my lesson there, it seems, I thank you for the tip.
From now on I’ll have stricter guides on choosing who to try,
Men, not boys, and substance please, combined with a kinder eye.
Bruises fade with time, I know, and intent determines all,
Forgiveness I have granted you, though I am not your thrall.
I do not judge you for what passed between us on that night,
I learned so much about myself from just one simple bite.
I’ll miss the comfort of your arms, I’ll miss the warmth, it’s true,
But that I’m sure I’ll live without, I’ll keep my pride, not you.

This is the almost perfect women's poem, but for some middle stanzas that do not scan properly. I am willing to overlook them because the rest is such a wonderful combination of emotion and clever rhyme. Poor you, but poorer still the "boy".

Scarcely a trip. I enjoyed it immensely.

I like it! Very brave indeed. Good for you. It reminds me of something I wrote a long time ago that ended with "I will not be your afterthought, because you are not mine." The closing line is very strong, just like you I'm sure. :)
